Lighthouses
My father worked for the Marine Department (Harbour Office). Between the end of WWII and the late 60s, he was stationed and worked at Green Island (off Kennedy Town), Blackhead's Hill (Tsimshatsui), North Point (on top of Ferry Pier East) and at the head office in Rumsay Street, Central. Luckily, he wasn't stationed at Waglan's because it would have meant staying on a "barren rock" for 2-week shifts at a time and having to be hoisted/lowered and swung in a basket from the pier to the lighthouse on the top of the hill.
Green Island Lighthouse
My grandfather, Tse Sam, first served at Green Island Lighthouse as a Chinese/Assistant lighthouse keeper between 1925 and 1931. He was then transferred to Tang Lung Chau/Kap Sing LH for 2 years, and possibly Waglan LH after that. He and his family escaped Hong Kong during the war. He returned to LH service and stationed at TLC LH from 01 December 1945, until his retirement in 1960.
