This land is Freehold War department Property.
Its area is 0 acre 3 Roods 0 8/10 pole.
It was purchased in 1905 from the civil government at a price fixed by arbitration of $ 3,885.
Land at Belcher point. WD Lot No. 2
This land is agreed to be Freehold War Department Property.
The two portions marked A on Plan (Area 2 acres 0 rood 45 poles) including Fly point battery and part of Belcher Battery were transferred to the War Department by the colonial Government for Military Purposes in 1859.
The portion marked B(Area 8 acres 0 root 28 poles) including the remainder of Belcher Battery and the rest of War Department land north of the Pokfulam Road was transferred to the War Department in 1885.
There is no title deed. The value of this land was assessed at $42.93 and this amount is recorded in the favor of the colony in the Colonial Military Lands account.
A strip of land required to form a back entrance to Inland Lot 673 was transferred from the War Department to the Colonial Government on 25th October 1895.
The area is 15 12/30 poles (4914 SQ Ft = 18 poles by Colonial Government statement). There is no formal deed.
WDL No. 3 Mt. Austin Barracks, The Peak
This land is rural building Lot No. 64 and contained buildings known as the Mount. Austin Hotel. Its Area is 3 acres 3 roods 8 23/30 poles.
It is War Department Leasehold Property.
The Lease was for 75 years commencing 27th September, 1888 and was purchased by the War Department form the Hotel Company for the sum of UK$30,000 on 1st October, 1897.
The lease, title deeds, and conveyance are deposited in the C.R.E.’s Office, HongKong. The property was subject to Crown Rent of $ 292 per annum, but it appears yo have been commuted at 25 years; purchase, since a sum of $7,300 stands to the credit of Colonial Government for the Mount Austin Hotel in the Colonial Military Lands Account.
WDL No. 4 Murray Parade Ground, Victoria Cantonment
This is agreed to be Freehold War Department Property.
The area was 2 acres 3 roods 24 poles.
There is no title deed but it is understood to have been transferred to the War Department by the Colonial Government on 23rd August, 1845.
In 1901, a strip of land along the North side in area 30 poles was transferred to the Colonial Government. For the purpose of widening Queen’s Road.
There was no formal deed of transfer.
W.D. LOT No. 5 WELLINGTON BARRACKS
This land is agreed to be Freehold War Department Property.
Its area was 4 acres 2 roods 27 poles.
There is no title deed but it is supposed to have become the property of the War Department on the cession of the Island under the Treaty of 29th August, 1842.
In 1904, a strip of land from this property in area 39 3/5 poles was transferred to the Colonial Government for the purpose of widening Queen’s Road.

The land for this building is Freehold War Department Property.
Its area is 5 acres 3 roods 23 20/30 poles.
It was transferred from the COlonial Government on 18th May, 1894.
The Colonial Authorities made the following conditions before handing over the site were accepted by War Department. See HK. 7/273, 9th June, 1893
1. - The Hospital buildings were to be kept out of sight of Bowen Road.(it is to be supposed that this means thata they should not obtrude themselves on the sight of people walking along Bowen Road.)
2.- That the COnduit on the North side of the site should be reconstructed in iron pipes.
3.- That a new road should be made joining Kennedy Road and Bowen Road to take the traffic to and from the Hospital.
