Barbara Bridget Fox, aged 30 in 1945.

Wife of John Alexander Fox, 33 in 1945.

Both are on the British Army Aid Group list as uninterned in December 1942, almost certainly living in the French Hospital. John Fox was probably working for the Sanitation Department.

In January 1943 Uriah Laite, a Canadian padre in Shamshuipo, records receiving a parcel from Mrs. B. Fox of Pok Fu Lam Road. This was probably Barbara Fox, so she wasn't living at the French Hospital at that point (see my comment above). Laite received another parcel later in the month - this time from Miss Doreen Xavier of Ava Mansions, May Rd. He clearly didn't know either woman - like the other Canadians he'd only arrived in Hong Kong three weeks before the start of the war. My guess is that Dr. Selwyn-Clarke was using people in his 'network' to send in parcels.
