Is there some place in HK where marriages were registered abt.1917 -1920? In particular I am looking for Percy Richard Glendinning who married Elsie Hillier, not sure of date or even where, but Joyce Glendinning their daughter was born in HK in 1920.
I have searched NSW BDM in Australia without success. Thanks.
Hi Sandra, If you go to this page: http://gwulo.com/node/9376, and scroll down to "They were born / baptised / married / died in Hong Kong ...", there are some suggestions of where to look for marriage records.
I tried a quick search through the local newspapers, but didn't see any mention of their wedding.
David Further research has given me the following dates. Percy born Jly 1883 Wembley, Middlesex, UK m: Elsie Susan Hillier 14 Oct.1919 St John's Cathedral Hong Kong, died: 1958 Marrickville, NSW, Australia. Sandra Trimble
Thanksk Sandra, good to see your research is still turning up new information. I've updated Percy's details, and made a page for Elsie: http://gwulo.com/node/24045
Percy Richard Glendenning birth registered Quarter 3 1883 in Hendon
Hendon 3a 140
London Church of England Baptisms
Percy Richard Glendenning (sic) baptised 9 September 1883 at St. John the Evangelist, Wembley. Parents James Glendenning occupation shepherd and Agnes [see above entry Passenger List]
The above was his correct family. His brother was Walter Glendinning who 'gave away' his bride, Elsie Susan Hillier, who arrived in Hong Kong from Australia only two days before the wedding. .
