The direction of the street goes up. Yet there was the silhouette of a mountain in the background (? Victoria Peak). Wellington Street goes in a east-West direction. Should not see the peak!

Well, the photographer may be looking from west to east, and the 'mountain' could be in the Magazine Gap area.

Wellington Street slopes gently upwards from Queen’s Road Central, reaches the junction with 擺花街，then goes downwards. The photo could have been taken there, with the photographer facing east, downhill. That would explain the hill in the background. The slopes of Central mid-level, Upper Albert Road, and Botanical Garden should be in line, if not blocked by buildings between the photographer and the present date D’agular Street, Wyndham Street and Ice House Street.
