Son of Frederick Appleton also HKP. who was born 16.5.1876 and served in the Royal Marines and along with several other ex Marines enlisted in the HKP in 1900.A copy of his Agreement of Service (Contract) is/was in the Police Museum.He was given the Number 106.He received the HKP Merit Medal Class 4 (long service) in 1920.Appointed Inspector in 1923 he was attached to the District Watch Force as Officer in Charge.Retiring in 1925 he died in 1964.
His son Frederick George Appleton,main subject of this post,was born in HK in August 1913 and enlisted in the hKP on the 9.11.1934 as Lance Sergeant A 79.His exploits during the invasion are recorded in Watson P 178.He was repatriated to the UK in October 1945 per Highland Monarch,was awarded the CPLSM in 1952 as an Inspector and the Colonial Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1955in the rank of Chief Inspector.He retired in 1960.
