She was married to Cecil Jessie Austen Gray, RNVR, Flag Lt to Commodore Collinson. I believe she was his second wife and I believe she was an ANS albeit working at RN Hospital. She was later incarcerated at Stanley Camp. He had worked before the war as an Accountant in Shanghai.

Philip Cracknell

She was the second wife of Cecil Jesse Austen Gray. They married 18 June 1940 in Hong Kong. they has a son born at Tsingtao in 1947  and a second son  born in Calcutta in 1950. She was Kathleen Kent Downton born 4 September 1914 in Leicester  and  died in Leicester as Katheleen Kent Butchart on 25 September 2001 in Leicester aged 87.  She married Eric A Butchart in 1960 in Leicester. Cecil Jesse Austen Gray also remarried in  1960.

There is a report on the wedding, in the Hong Kong Daily Press dated 19 June 1940. She was given away by Mr Norman Lockhart Smith (who at the time was Colonial Secretary and Acting Governor). They married at the Union Church. The Best Man was Francis Raymon Latimer Carey. The Matron of Honour Mrs T. R Banister. The reception was at Government House.  Philip Cracknell
