He was born 25 March 1891. He joined Dairy Farm Ice & Cold Storage in 1920 from Scotland and remained with Dairy Farm for 30 years until his retirement in 1950. He married in 1912. His daughter married George Milne who succeeded him as GM. He enjoyed spending time at his mat-shed on 11 1/2 mile beach on Castle Peak Road. In the 1920s he played football for Dairy Farm and was an active member of Kowloon Golf Club and Hong Kong Golf Club (Information sourced from The Milky Way (1986) By Nigel Cameron). In Stanley Camp, he was billeted in Block 8 (St Stephens College Main Building) Room 1.
