Thank you for all the extra information you've provided about your family. I've updated their names & dates.
Please can I ask your mother's maiden name? And if you can share any stories of your family's time in Hong Kong & Stanley Camp they'll be good to read. It's always interesting to learn more about families with a long connection to Hong Kong.
A pretty wedding took place at St. Joseph's Church on Saturday afternoon when Miss Elphida M. Xavier daughter of Mr. Xavier of the Gas Light and Coke Co. and Mrs. Xavier was married to Mr. R. G. Ward of the Chinese Maritime Customs.
The Rev. Father Riganti officiated. The bride was given away by her father, and Mr. J. L. Boyes performed the duties of best man.
After the church ceremony, the parties adjourned to No. 72 Morrison Hill Road where a reception was helf. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Ward left for Repulse Bay where the honeymoon is being spent.
Thank you David for the above information. It was very good of you to take the time and trouble to search for this record. Naturally, the family has few actual records of their earlier days in Hong Kong and it was marvellous to receive a copy of the newspaper report, especially as we have been working on family research.
Elfrida's mother's maiden name was Judith Botelho. Following WW2 she joined her daughters Mercia and Celia and their families in Scotland. I cannot find any record of her travel. Judith died in Scotland in 1968.
