Bruusgaard & Kiøsteruud was a norwegian shipowner, situated in Drammen Norway. They were coworking with, and shareholders of the norwegian merchant, engeneering and shipping agency Thoresen & Co which was a branch office of Det Oversøiske Compagne(The Oversea Export and Imort Company Ltd.) in Christiania Norway. DOC had many offices around the world.  In China at 15 Canton Road Hong Kong, and another office in Shanghai.  The Hong kong manager of Thoresen & Co was Arne Schou Sørensen who followed Bjarne Aagaard in 1910.

Bruusgaard & Kiøsterud contracted the building of DS Hermelin, and the honour of baptizing the new ship was given to Schou-Sørensens oldest daughter Gunvor. Her mother Severine got the mission in 1918 to baptize the SS Prominent which also was buildt at Whampoa Dock Company for another norwegian shipowner; D/S A/S Produce in Haugesund Norway.
