I believe this is Charles Coull, a Sergeant in the Royal Hong Kong Police.  He was in a relationship with my great aunt, Elizabeth Sturrock, although they never married.  He was born on 19 January 1916 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland.  He returned to the UK via New Zealand on 16 April 1946.  He died from TB on 11 August 1947 in Monifieth, Angus, Scotland. He was the love of my great aunt's life and she never married.  We have some family photographs.

Thanks Susan, I've updated his page with the information you've given. Was your great aunt in Hong Kong at all?

If you can add his photo it'll be good to see. Here's how: http://gwulo.com/node/2076
Any photos of old Hong Kong, or information about his time in Stanley Camp will also be very welcome.

I found his obituary on page 2 of The China Mail, 1947-08-23:

MR. C. COULL

News has been received here of  the death of Charles Coull, of  the Hong Kong Police Force, at the Ashludie Hospital in Dundee on August 11.

Deceased was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Coull, of 20 St. Ronans Avenue, Dundee. He was only 30 years old.

He practised as a dental mechanic before joining the Police Force in 1938.

Caught here when the Japanese attacked in December 1941. Charles Coull was interned at Stanley where he contracted an illness which was the ultimate cause of his untimely death.

After the Japanese surrendered in 1945, he left for Australia to recuperate and returned to England in May 1946.

Charles Coull is well known in local sporting circles. He was one of the former Police soccer team's best inside forwards.

Thank you.  I don't think my Aunt was ever in Hong Kong.  I have uploaded a couple of photographs.

If I come across any of old Hong Kong, I shall upload them.

Charles Coull was Lance Sergeant 126 in the HKP and was serving at Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station at the time of the Japanese invasion.

Thank you for the information harmston. Can you recall where you found the information and do you know if the Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station was in the Marine Police Station?  I visited HK recently but the Tsim Sha Tsui station is a new building opened in 1984, as far as I understand.
