The hill with the 'big white golf ball' is a radar station which is atop Beacon Hill. One can also see a plane taking off from Kai Tak and banking left over Kowloon. Probably taken near Causeway Bay.
Thank you Moddsey. Trying to visualise the course of our 'junk' trip round the harbour your suggestion that we were off Causeway Bay is very likely correct. I'll change the title. Andrew
