His full name is William Hong Sling and is referred to in various BAAG reports. He was imprisoned (smuggling), tortured and released as nothing was proved against him.

He must have moved to Hong Kong when he was young, as here he is playing cricket at Hong Kong University in 1933:

According to Peter Hall's '150 years of Cricket in Hong Kong', WHS was playing cricket for the Chinese Recreation Club in the 1920s.

Bill Sling was well known in the 50s regarding his association with the KCC& KBGC & a close personal friend of my family
I did not realise until now of his war time ordeals
I am currently working on a an analysis of the Kempai Tai involvement in HK
