The words my husband has written under this photo look like Shau Ki Wan. Is that a place and does anyone know where it is please? I think it must have been taken in 1954.

Hi Pauline, I've added the place above so you can see the map and another photo of the area. Old documents refer to 'Shau ki wan', but modern maps use the spelling 'Shau kei wan'.

I found the other thread with all the comments and info very interesting, don't like the sound of the rats though!! My husband certainly must have travelled around a lot, I wish he had had more photos taken later on, maybe he did but his mother threw away a lot of his stuff, sore point!!

I think more photos get taken when everything's new and exciting. After a year or so things seem more 'normal' and the camera doesn't get used so much - at least that's been my experience.
