Any ideas where this was taken?

Over on Flickr, Eternal1966 believes it is somewhere in Wanchai.

[Identified as Lion Rock Road - see comments below]

Hi there,

By the look of the buildings, it could really be somewhere between Queen's Road East and Johnston Road.  The street was quite wide as it could easily accomodate three lane traffic.

I might be Tai Yuen Street, if we consider the length of it.  The side street as shown also match.  The photographer might looking north.

Older houses of the same style could still be seen in Chuen Yuen Street, Cross Street, Landale Street and Anton Street.  Those in Tai Yuen street had already been torn down last year.

Best Regards,

Hi there,

I don't know about Lockhart Road of the 1950's as I was not born yet.  However I remember the middle barrier was already there in the mid-1960's.  Lockhart Road could be consider a 2 X 2 lane road, apparently a bit wider than the one shown, the middle barrier included.  Also there should be shophouses along the way, full of it in some sections.

Best Regards,

T

Hi there,

I followed Raymond's suggestions and search 心如學校 with Google and it seemed some bloke had already identified to be on Lion Rock Road in Kowloon City.

Please see post 801 of the URL.  I have to admit, some of the older houses of this style could also be found in Lion Rock Road and its neighbourhood.

Thanks & Best Regards,

T
