Graham, thanks for the names. I think the man on the left is probably Fred 'Taff' Evans. There are a couple of other photos of Fred here and here for comparison. What do you think?
I will check with my dad again (he does admit that his memory is not what it was back then). I would love to try and see if I can get any of the old crew back in touch with him, as he does enjoy telling us all about his days as a Tankie :-)
I met up with Fred when I was back to the UK in December. I mentioned your dad's name to him, and Fred remembered him straight away. His description was along the lines of 'a big guy, but never one to cause any trouble - a gentle man'.
