This looks different from the other photos of the pier at Connaught Road. Is there any chance it was a photo of an earlier location?
Or maybe it's a temporary matshed structure at the Connaught Road location, before the permanent pier building was erected?
Hong Kong Standard
" ...the first ferry pier stood in the middle of Central, by the old Alexandra House."
"Though the original pier was still at the corner of Pedder Street and Chater Road"
The ferries were just in front of the Hongkong Hotel, and run by the same owner.
There is a similar matshed or tin-roofed building from the company website.
