Pokfulam Reservoir Road [c.1870- ]

Submitted by Klaus on

Introductory remark: David has posted many details about this road here.

Pokfulam Reservoir Road runs from Pokfulam to Victoria Gap. It connects Pokfulam Road with Peak Road and is 2,7 km long (today).

It looks as if it existed already in the 1840s. In the 1870s, the road was re-routed to give a smoother ascent and decent. Both roads are shown in the map below: the older road is dark green, the younger one light green.

Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Bunker Ruin? [c.1938- ]

Submitted by Iloveoldhk on

Just before the gate at the end of Pok Fu Lam Reservoir, next to the Watchman's Cottage, is a partially destroyed bunker along the very side of the road. It seems fairly isolated, but not far from the other previously cited bunkers         ( https://gwulo.com/node/4337 ) and a pillbox (  https://gwulo.com/node/13192  ). It somewhat resembles the bunkers mentioned and possibly a Type 2? splinter proof shelter.

Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Bunkers (Forward Dressing Station) [c.1939- ]

Submitted by Iloveoldhk on

Walking down the main road that goes around Pok Fu Lam reservoir, I stumbled accross these structures. There is a large group of them, 4-6, right on roadside. They are all sealed up, but in relatively good condition.

All of them have similar designs, a door and a large loophole-ish window. They all appear as bunkers, with a lip at the rooftop and all slightly dug into the mountainside. Some have stones on the surface for similar camoflage like other pillboxes we have seen around Hong Kong.  As I remember, they all had ventilation structures on the top as well.
