Kennedy Road was the second east-west road in Hong Kong. PWR for 1876 mentions the construction of this road. Garden Road already appears on the 1866 map. So the junction was built likely in the late 1870s. 

The junction drastically changed over the years, mainly after the construction of Cotton Tree Drive.

Completed in March 1892, vaccine work began in October that year 

Used by the Forestry Department post war until the building was demolished for the Garden Road flyover
