Project Concern was founded by Dr. James W. Turpin in 1961. It is a charity medical organisation devoted to help poor Chinese in Hong Kong. In 1962, the first clinic began operation in the Kowloon Walled City. 1963 the floating clinic officially opened inside the Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter. The ship (a rebuilt Chinese junk) was named "Yauh Oi" which means "Brotherly Love". It looks that in 1965 a sister ship was added.
