Quite a number of football matches for charity were held in last few months of 1945. 
As early as Oct. 18, there was a friendly match between Eastern FC and 44 Commandos.

The match depicted by the IWH film was held on Nov. 1 _[1], not as the production date Nov. 2 cited on the IWM webpage.
It was for 'Relief of Distress in Hong Kong' (C-in-C's Fund), complementary ticket price $5. The Pipe band of 42 R.M. Commandos in attendance also. _[1b]
Those spectators on the hill rocks, of course, had no need to pay.
