Found these images here. They were shot by an American soldier on leave during the Vietnam war in 1969, most likely between October to December 1969.

Hennessy Road (location of Playboy Bar) at the corner of Fenwick Street, looking east.

Kow Hoo Shoe Company still exists, but now located in Prince's Building.

Junction of Hennessy Road and O'Brien Road

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):

The photo shows the road junction of Hennessy Road and O'Brien Road (which runs across the photo) c1959.   The "4-cow condensed milk" advertisement sign is at 156, Hennessy Road.

Southorn Playground in 1932

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1932

The photo shows Southorn Playground before WWII.  There is an open-air cinema, and it runs two shows in the evenings only.

The even numbers of the tenements on Hennessy Road are on the southern side.   House number 156 starts from O'brien Road, and goes eastward to 200 at Fleming Road.   A 4-storey high white building stands on 168-170 (or 166-168?) in the middle.  Corrections and suggestions are welcome.
