Archibald DAVID (aka Archie, but he rode under the pseudonym Mr. Knoll and also used Mr. Gilpin) [????-????]

Known to my family as Jockey Knoll, who won the Professional Cup for us on "Off Day" 23 February, 1922 on Charles Warren's most successful pony, Mosaic Tile, Archie David also owned the Knights Stable under the pseudonym Mr. Gilpin. His father had forbidden him to ride after he was badly injured while racing in Shanghai for the stable of his brother, Evelyn David. This was apparently the reason for his pseudonyms, but the subterfuge can't have lasted for long. He was a special juror in Hong Kong and a director of his father's company, S.J. David & Co. Ltd.
