Writing to his family from 101 Special Training School, Singapore, Leslie Warren - ex-HKVDC Signals - adds a PS to his 18 January 1942 letter: At the moment enemy planes are coming over, and bombs are dropping all around us, but I’m beginning to get used to it. Funny how one can get used to anything!

In his final 20 January 1942 letter from Singapore he tells his family that he has deposited all his important documents with HSBC, Singapore with instructions of where to send them in the event of my being bumped off. He then continues:

The Jap planes are just coming over and the Ack-Acks are firing like fury. They brought 4 down with one shot the other day; one blew up into pieces and brought down 3 others with it when its bombs exploded in mid-air. Raids are a daily occurrence, but we are beginning to bring them down, 13 day before yesterday and 5 yesterday.
