Fan Garden and Dodwells Ridge

Recently I came across names of 2 camps near Fanling.  Googling them bring up very few entries which are military related.  The 2 camps are "Fan Garden" and "Dodwells Ridge".  Both are mentioned in this post:

I would like to visit the sites for these old camps and see what is left of them but I've not been able to find the precise locations for these camps.

Does anyone know where these camps used to be located?

Hi Tony

That phrase turns up a bunch of relevant pages (click for Google Search). They look more relevany, though I'm not sure how accurate they are.

If you manage to pin down their locations, please could you make Places for them to record where they were?

Thanks & regards, David

Hi Tony

From what I understand Fan Garden was an old military camp that was eventually turned into the fledgling Police Cadet School. But this was closed in 1990 (and moved to Wong Chuk Hang?).

Looking at the map where the Police Driving school is (on Jockey Club Road) there is an area just north of there called "Fan Garden". It looks to still be part of the school and I wonder if this is what became of the camp?

I've created a place so you know where I am talking about.

I pumped this into Google and got a location on the north side of Fanling golf course. There is a small area that has some corrugated iron sheds inside now used by the golf course. Perhaps this was where the camp was?

If so this place was also used by the Police Cadet School as accomodation.

I've created a place for here too: http://gwulo.com/node/8265

Until someone can tell us anything different.
