The number plate on the nearest lorry doesn't look like a Hong Kong plate to me. Also, no romanised writing on the chemist shop signs, and I have never seen a goods tricycle fitted with car wheels in HK! The big truck in the background looks to be of British manufacture, though. Macau?
Jackie, that's good news. Thanks very much for the link.
Google translate shows the writers on that thread have identified the clinic (shop on left corner with black sign boards on pillars), and it was at 178 Reclamation Street. They also have some other photos from the same photographer & location. Those let them estimate the photo was taken late 50's / early 60s.
David - Just a small detail. 178 Reclamation Street is actually the 2nd shop on the left (i.e., one shop "into the photo" next to the clinic). It sells paper ancestral offerings, incense, etc.

Lim-peng, thanks for the comments, but...

Difficult to see clearly, so not sure either way on that.
Also, no romanised writing on the chemist shop signs,
Not so uncommon once you got off the main streets. cf. http://gwulo.com/image/tid/52.

There's a photo of something similar on page 204 of 'Early Hong Kong Transport' by Cheng Po Hung.
... so, still no clear proof, but I'm sticking with Kowloon for now.

Agree it's west of Nathan
Agree it's west of Nathan Road.
Maybe Shanghai Street?
Maybe Shanghai Street?
Possibly, I'm just not sure. Unless someone recognises a company name, I can't spot anything we can use to pin down the location.
Thanks for the feedback,
David
