Lieutenant Joe Dines was in the Royal Naval Reserve. During the Battle of Hong Kong, he served on HMS Thracian. He was wounded on 20 December 1941 and entered Queen Mary Hospital. He was later transferred to the Royal Naval Hospital.
He was interned at Argyle Street Camp and likely later at Sham Shui Po Camp.
