Timothy MCCARTHY (aka Tim) [1912-2001]

Timothy McCarthy was born in 1912, in Knocknagree in Co Kerry. He joined the Hong Kong Police in 1934. He was interned in Stanley during the war. When he returned on leave after the war he married my mother Sheila Kearney. When he returned from leave  his wife Sheila was pregnant and unable to travel with him, she joined him in Hong Kong when their son Denis was 3 months old. Their second son John was born in September 1948 in Hong Kong. He retired from the police in 1949 and returned with the family to Ireland.
