The annual athletic sports at Diocesan Boys' School (D.B.S.) were held yesterday, with athletes performing well despite strong winds. Close competition was particularly evident in the relay races. Kaan Wah-tuen and K. Knight shared points for the senior championship, while J. Nicall and V. Knige won the middle and junior championships, respectively.
In the inter-house competition, Green House emerged victorious with 102 points, followed by Yellow House with 93 points.
During the afternoon, many spectators visited the Hobbies Exhibition held in the school. The exhibition showcased a fine collection of schoolboys' favourite hobbies, including various handicrafts, miniature crystal and wireless receiving sets, photography, painting, botany, and stamp, butterfly, and bird egg collections. Mr. R. Dormer, who is judging the exhibition, will announce the winners next week.
Individual event results saw Kaan Wah-tuen, G. Kew, and Chan Chung-chow placing in the senior 100 yards, with J. Nicall, Ip Lal, and Chan King-cheung leading the middle division, and V. Knige, Chan Sing-cheung, and Chim Cha-chu in the junior. Kaan Wah-tuen also excelled in the senior high jump, alongside Chan Chung-chow and G. Derkach. J. Nicall, Chan Sing-cheung, and R. Yue were top in the middle 400 yards, while V. Knige, Cheung Ping-wah, and Chan Sing-cheung led the junior 400 yards. Ma Hing-fong, Lin Chin-hae, Ip Lal, and J. Nicall were prominent in the middle high jump. Kaan Wah-tuen, Chan Chung-chow, and Chan Ching-lo were the top three in the senior long jump. The junior 800 yards was won by V. Knige, followed by Fung Kim-chah and B. Lin. K. Knight, G. Kew, and E. Fisher placed in the senior 440 yards. Chan Sing-cheung, Ma Hing-fong, and Lin Chin-hae were the top performers in the middle long jump. In the mile races, M.R. Turner, J. Read, and J. Nicall led the middle division, and M. Sully, K. Knight, and E. Fisher were the top three in the senior. G. Derkach, E. Fisher, and Chan Chung-chow were the leading shot putters in the senior category.
House relay races saw Brown House, Green House, and Blue House placing in the junior division; Green House, Blue House, and Brown House in the middle; and Yellow House, Blue House, and Brown House in the senior. Yellow House won the senior tug-of-war. G. White won the Old Boys' Race, and Chang Sau-sing and F. Ho were the top two in the Midget Race.
Keen rivalry marked King's College sports, held yesterday at Caroline Hill. Two records were broken during the event: Sin Kwok-bun set a new junior 200 metres record with a time of 25 1/5 seconds, and Au Tin-yum cleared 5 ft 8 in in the senior high jump, establishing another new record.
South House secured the house championship, leading throughout the competition to win with 104 points. West House followed with 82 points, East House with 41, and North House with 25.
The 1,200 metres invitation relay race was won by Central British School, represented by C. Hosegood, A. Fancey, N. J. Booker, and E. Fitzsimmons. Gymnastic displays were presented under the direction of Mr. Lui Kwai-lau and Mr. Chung Wa-chui. The race for boy scouts was won by the Lion Patrol.
Individual champions were Lee Kwok-lin and Wong Ki-lun in the senior division, and Wong Ki-lun, Pau Ka-fook, and Sin Kwok-bun in the junior division. In the 100 metres, senior winners were Lee Kwok-lin, Wong Ki-lun, and Li Shui-pang, while junior winners were Wong Ki-lun, Sin Kwok-bun, and Wong Shau-luk. Lai Chung-tak, Chan Yan-pak, and Wong Man-ying were the top three in both the 50 metres and 100 metres for Classes 7 and 8. The senior 200 metres saw Lee Kwok-lin, Chan Ho-lu, and Wong Ki-lun as top finishers, with Sin Kwok-bun, Wong Ki-lun, and Wong Shau-luk leading the junior division. Wong Ki-lun, Ho Hon, and Au Tin-yum were the top three in the senior long jump, and Wong Ki-lun, Pau Ka-fook, and Wong Shau-chuen in the junior. Au Tin-yum, Li Shui-pang, and Au Wai-man placed in the senior high jump, while Ma Wai-fan, Wong Wing-kuen, and Wong Ki-lun led the junior high jump.
Further results included Wong Ki-lun and Li Shui-pang as the top two in the 110 metres hurdles. Senior shot put winners were Ng Kwok-hung, Tsang Ting-hoi, and Kwan Kwok-ming. In the 400 metres, Pau Ka-fook, Sha Tin-sang, and Lam Hon-cheung led the junior division, and Lau Kai-ming, Poon Man-tung, and Wong Ki-lun led the senior. Chan Ho-lu, Lam Ka-cheung, and Wan Cheung-chi were the top three in the senior 800 metres. Wong Shu-man, Lam Ka-cheung, and Poon Man-tung placed in the senior 1,500 metres.
In other competitions, Ip Kam-hung, Au Yeung-him, and Wong Ki-leung were the top three in the Old Boys' Race. Relay winners for Classes 7 and 8 were West House, East House, and South House. Junior relay winners were North House, South House, and East House, while senior relay winners were East House, South House, and West House. Class 2c won the interclass smallball football competition. The Photographic Competition winners were Lo Ping-yat, Wong Ki-lun, and Lam Ka-cheung.
His Excellency the Governor will present the prizes at the annual athletic sports of St. Joseph's College at Caroline Hill on Friday, March 25.

The eighth annual athletic sports of King's College were held yesterday afternoon on the South China Athletic Association ground, Caroline Hill. A large gathering of parents, relatives, and friends attended the event.
At the conclusion of the events, Mrs. A. White distributed the prizes to the winners.
Lee Kok Lim was the individual senior champion with ten points, followed closely by Wong Kee Lum, who obtained nine points. In the junior category, Wong Kee Lum was the individual champion with fifteen points, while Pan Ka Fook and Sin Kwok Bun tied for second place with eight points each.
One local school record was broken in the High Jump event, with Lee Shiu Pang clearing five feet eight and a half inches.
The invitation relay race was won by the Central British School. La Salle College came in second, and St. Joseph's College placed third.
