Mr. William Kay, M.A. (Edin.), Head Master of King's College, who was appointed to the Education Department in August 1913, is shortly leaving the Colony upon retirement. He celebrated his 52nd birthday on Monday.
Mr. Kay arrived in the Colony on September 11, 1913. He was appointed Acting Head Master of the Saiyingpun English School and a year later became Head Master of the Wanchai English School.
During his term of office at Queen's College, Mr. Kay edited the college magazine, "The Yellow Dragon," to which he was a frequent contributor under the pseudonyms "W. Kay" and "K. Wai-lam." He is also the Chieftain of the Hong Kong St. Andrew's Society, having been elected last year after previously serving as Vice-Chieftain of the Society. In August 1935, Mr. Kay attended the Educational Congress at Oxford, and from June to August 1936, he was present at the Pan-Pacific Seminar Conference held in Honolulu.
In his younger days, Mr. Kay was a keen cricketer but had to give up the game on medical grounds.
