KOWLOON BUS MONOPOLY
KAI TACK VEHICLES TAKEN OVER
SLIGHT INCREASE IN SEASON TICKETS
Plans are well set for the taking over by the Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd., of the bus routes on the mainland by June 11, the ultimate date fixed in their franchise.
A start has already been made, and yesterday the Kai Tack Bus Co., ceased to be, as their fleet of buses was taken over by the Kowloon Bus Co., and the operation of their three routes, Nos. 3, 4 and 5, continued by the new Company without any change that was apparent to passengers.
To-morrow, the buses belonging to the China Motor Bus Company, which has moved over to the Island, will be similarly taken over by the Kowloon Bus Co., and it is hoped that by Saturday, arrangements will have been completed when unified control of all routes becomes an accomplished fact.
110 VEHICLES.
In all, the Kowloon Bus Co. will be in possession of a fleet of 110 vehicles, including those they have been operating.
It is learned that while ordinary stage fares will remain as they are, a slight increase from $9 to $10 will be made on monthly tickets, in return for which ticket holders will have have the advantage of using all the bus routes in Kowloon Proper without extra charges. This facility, of course, is not extended to the buses running to or in the New Territories.
Schoolchildren's monthly tickets will remain at their present price of $4.
Monthly tickets for June have been issued by and in the name of the former Companies, and holders are now requested to exchange these for new ones issued by the Kowloon Bus Co., without any charge, as from June 11 and certainly not later than June 15, at the Company's offices at Nathan Road, Mongkok.
It may be possible at a later date to issue tickets from an office at the Kowloon Star Ferry.
