William Richard Kingdon Collings was a Naval Architect. He joined Government as an Assistant Surveyor in the Marine Surveyor's Office of the Harbour Department (later called Marine Department) on 24 November 1933.
He married Flora Muriel Robson at St. Andrew's Church on 5 September 1936.
William Collings better known as "Richard" was a keen golfer and won many local championships. He also served in the HKVDC:

W. R. K. Collings was wounded in the Battle of Hong Kong and spent time in the War Memorial Hospital and Bowen Road Military Hospital. In March 1945 he was interned at Sham Shui Po Camp.
After the war, he continued in Government and rose up through the ranks of the Marine Department. He retired as Assistant Director of Marine in 1959. W. R. K. Collings led a long life and died in 2007, aged 103.
