George White was formerly the head of the Engineering Department at Plymouth Technical College, U. K. He joined the Education Department on 11 November 1932 as a technical supervisor and formulated plans for a system of technical education in Hong Kong.
He later became the Government Trade School's (formerly the Junior Technical School) first principal. The School held its first courses in February 1937 and was formally opened by Governor Northcote on 13 April 1938.
In April 1941, George White was appointed Controller of Land Transport.
At the outbreak of war, George White was seconded to the RASC and given the rank of Captain. He was interned at Argyle Street Camp and Sham Shui Po Camp.
George White was married to Gladys Frances White. She was in the HKVDC, Nursing Detachment and interned at Stanley Camp.
