Reginald Earnshaw appears to have arrived in Hong Kong in 1920 with his brother Claude. Both brothers joined the Hong Kong Police. Reginald left at the end of 1923 and became manager of the Kai Tack Motor Bus Company. He was a motor enthusiast and mechanic/engineer. Reginald and Claude were connected with Harry Abbott in the "Abbott School of Aviation" at Kai Tak.

Reginald Earnshaw died on 24 January 1925 (Chinese New Year's Day) after performing a parachute jump from a biplane, a stunt that went horribly wrong. Earnshaw landed in Kowloon Bay whilst attempting to reach the shore. He got entangled in the ropes of his parachute and went down with his canopy. His body was recovered nearly two weeks later. The accident can be read in the Hong Kong Telegraph 26 January 1925 here
