The Eyre Diocesan Refuge was founded by Miss Lucy Eyre, a British Missionary, in 1898. The mission of the Refuge was to rescue the destitute and “fallen” women in the local society.  The refuge was situated next to St Mary's Church, Causeway Bay, until it was moved to Kowloon in 1914 and the building was demolished when the new St Mary's Church was built in 1936-7.
