Irene Margaret Kelly was better known as Sister Dominic (formerly Mary St. Dominic). She served the Maryknoll Sisters and was sent to Korea in 1934. She appears to have been transferred to China in 1936.

In December 1941, Sister Dominic was in Hong Kong for a surgical operation and hospital care. After the fall of Hong Kong, Sister Dominic and other Sisters of the convent in Holy Sprit School on Caine Road were interned. They arrived in Stanley Camp on 21 January 1942. In camp, Sister Dominic worked in the clinic.

In September 1942, Sister Dominic and other Maryknoll missionaries were released from confinement (see here). After receiving permission from the Japanese authorities, Sister Dominic left Hong Kong and worked in the inland missions of China. She would remain in China until the end of the war and later return to the United States.
