Thomas Henry Revers was a Maryknoll missionary. He was called Brother Thaddeus and better known as Brother Thad. Brother Thaddeus was an experienced builder, master carpenter and general handyman. His skills were put to good use in the parishes and mission stations that he was assigned at the time.
In 1937, Brother Thaddeus was first assigned to Kyoto, Japan. He was later posted to Hong Kong in 1939 to make the necessary repairs and improvements on Stanley House. He was present in Hong Kong during the Japanese invasion and later interned at Stanley Camp. Brother Thaddeus was released from confinement in September 1942 (see here) and later given permission by the Japanese authorities to enter China. Brother Thaddeus and a group of Maryknoll priests left Hong Kong and arrived safely in Kweilin (Guilin) at the end of January 1943.
Brother Thaddeus continued to work in the interior missions of China until he was called back to the United States. By making his way to India, he returned to the U. S. in March 1945.
