Haven of Hope Pier [????-????]

Current condition
Demolished / No longer exists

Before reclamation, this point marks a small wooden pier that appears to have been built to serve the Haven of Hope Sanatorium up the hill*. It was still marked on maps in the 80s.

*any confirmation or denial that this was the reason it was built is appreciated.

Thanks for the link. I've only really seen aerial images from the early 60s and it looked pretty isolated, so this doesn't surprise me.

Good morning Phil,

If you Google Hong Kong Stories RTHK you will find there are a lot of documentaries about HK. I particularly remember one but could not find it to send you a link. It was about how remote that end of Kowloon was during the 50s and how a road was pushed out to Kwun Tong to facilitate building of resettlement estates.

Regards Bob
