Built in 1961, same year as its taller neighbor Kam Kok building.
According to a 2006 wenweipo news report, senior executives close to Henderson Land confirmed that Henderson Land has just beaten with a bid over 1 billion dollars Cheung Kong and Nan Fung to win the Wan Chai Kam Kok Building and National Building thereby obtaining 92.31% ownership of the buildings. "Theatre King" Kwan Ka-pai's family owned those buidings.
