  • Hong Kong-born Portuguese lawyer, civil servant and soldier, who was an honorary colonel of the Royal Hong Kong Defence Force (predecessor of the Royal Hong Kong Regiment (Volunteers) ) from 1961 to 1968.
  • He also participated in the Battle of Hong Kong that broke out in December 1941. After Hong Kong fell, he became a prisoner of war until he was released after Hong Kong's liberation in 1945. 
  • Immediately after the Japanese surrender, he was assigned a special mission with Dr (later Sir Albert) Rodrigues and another Portuguese to deliver a letter to the British Consul in Macau for British troops' entry.
  • In the 1965 Sham Shui Po POW Camp 20th Liberation Anniversary, he said that the main horror of the period between Christmas Day, 1941, and August, 1945, was living from day to day not knowing how long they would have to remain prisoners.
