It was block 41 of Sek Kip Mei estate built in 1954. The estate was the earliest resettlement estate built in Hong Kong. It was built to resettle the squatter huts residents there after the 1953 fire (see Martin Booth's book Gweilo).
The only 6-story H-shaped public housing left in Hong Kong. Now designated as a "second class historical building" and location of a historical museum.

Tai Wan Shan estate was another such estate which no longer exists
