The newsletter emails are sent out at 1pm Hong Kong time, so when you receive this I hope to be sitting at the dinner table with friends and family, looking at a plate of turkey and roast vegetables, without a brussels sprout anywhere in the building.
Best wishes to you and your family for a very Merry Christmas,
David
PS A few Gwulo suggestions for the holidays:
- Gwulo talk on Thursday. I'm giving a talk at the Lion's Ink Bookstore on Thursday evening, 29 Dec. It's a cosy venue and when I checked this morning there were only three places left, so better be quick if you'd like to join us: details and how to book.
- Make the most of Hong Kong's weather. The Observatory are forecasting lots of cool, sunny weather over the holidays, perfect for exploring Hong Kong's back streets and country trails. If you spot anything unusual, take a look at your current location on Gwulo's map to find out more about it: tap the black pointer icon on the left of the map to centre the map at your current location, then look for markers on the map to see what Gwulo's readers have recorded in that area. Tap any marker to see more information.
- Favourite reading. Or if you're staying indoors this Christmas, here are some suggestions for reading material: the most-viewed pages that were added to Gwulo in 2022.
- Snowflakes! Finally, though the local forecast is for cool weather, it's "Hong Kong cool": 15-19°C and zero chance of any snow. To make up for that, on Christmas eve and Christmas day the Gwulo website's snowflakes option has been turned on.

Merry Christmas to Gwulo and…
Merry Christmas to Gwulo and readers and all the best in 2023. I am still in the middle of this huge and windy North American winter storm. The winds are scary and the snow flakes biting. Next, they invaded my screen and got me more scared. It is impossible to "see" an optometrist let alone finding one working this morning. OldTimer
