I found that Chartered Bank purchased Abergeldie in November 1920 when the house was valued at $2,040. I presume this was the original house. Does anyone know if the house was ever demolished or rebuilt?
Chartered Bank also owned Kirendoa at some point and it kept Abergeldie after its 1969 merger with Standard Bank. Abergeldie was the General Manager's residence well into the late-1980s and the address was 82 Plantation Road.
I wonder when it sold Kirdendoa. As far as I know, Standard Bank did not have a taipan house in Hong Kong when it merged with Chartered Bank.
