Dates on Places - second attempt

I haven't written much these last few days. Instead I've been working down in the engine room on a couple of new features:

First is this new map. You choose a year, then it shows all the places that could be seen in that year. It gives a snapshot of Hong Kong in a given year, which will be useful when we're trying to date old photos.

The other is a new list of places that were completed on or after a given year. I'm thinking it will be interesting in future as part of a 'what happened in Hong Kong this year' type of page.

As a side-effect there's a slight change since the last message about this. Dates are now entered into two fields: Date Place completed: and Date Place demolished:

Looking ahead, I've got a couple more deas for the map. First I'd like it to show the age of the buildings, probably by using different coloured markers for different ages.

Then I'm not sure if it's possible, but I'd really like to see the map animated, so it automatically scrolls through the years. I want to watch the built-up areas expand, reclamations take place, and waves of re-development take place in different sections of the city.

Please try them out, and let me know if you have any questions or feedback.

Please also try and fill in the completed / demolished dates as you create new places, so that they show up on the new map and list.

Regards, David
