In the cool of Saturday morning Miss Constance Irene Mellor was married to Mr. Alfred Trevor Godfrey, in St. Andrew’s Church, Kowloon, at 10 o’clock.
The Rev. J.R. Higgs performed the ceremony which was attended by a large gathering of friends.
The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Mellor, of Western Australia, and is well known through her past position as Nursing Sister in charge of of (sic) Military families in Kowloon.
The groom, Mr. Godfrey is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Godfrey of Lee, London, and is connected with the Hongkong Government as a chartered surveyor.
Lieut-Colonel O.C. Shackleton, R.A.M.C., led the attractive bride to the altar. Her costume was created from shell pink chiffon with a long full skirt, short puff sleeves on a plain, low neck bodice. An open crown sun bonnet hat matched the gown in colour and material, and in her pink lace mitten covered hands, the bride carried a sheaf of pink gladioli.
The Bridesmaid
The bridesmaid was Miss Peggy Stoneman whose frock was of rose pink silk net fashioned in a long skirt with flounces at the hem and carried out in the puff sleeves and at the neck of the bodice. Over her head she wore a gold thread snood, and in her hands she carried a Victoria posey.
Mr. W. Bastin attended Mr. Godfrey as best man.
After the early morning reception the wedding group and friends retired to the Peninsula Hotel for an informal reception.
Mr. and Mrs. A.T. Godfrey departed in the Ranchi for a trip to Malaya.”
