Hi there,

If you happen to be in the neighbourhood of the President Theathre in Jaffee Road & King Lung Street, try to look for the Maxi Cab terminus.  Besides the Maxi Cab terminus, you should be able to see a juice stall in front of a staircase, with two other food stalls on either sides.

If you are standing right in front of the juice stall, you might think the staircase is connected to the buildings on both sides of the stall.  If you do, think again.  Please go to the other side of the street, then turn around.  You will be surprised.

Folks, for other older houses we have been trying to locate, we found shades of the old walls, left behind pillars or foundations.  This one is unique.  The staircase is what's left.

I took a few pictures but it was close to midnight.

I'll go there again later for some new shots.

Best Regards,

T

15 years later here is a view of the staircase. Looks like it was demolished in Jan 2017. Interestingly the building on the corner with the round windows that was demolished was replaced by a shorter building which must be rare for Hong Kong. How the staircase originally looked can be seen in the next door building which still survives intact.
