Nona Pio-Ulski has kindly sent me a clipping about a 1946 funeral with a Mr and Mrs Preobrajensky in attendance. They also sent floral tributes and this gives us the initials M. N. for Mr. P.
Which in turn sends us to a man of that name who was an assistant boat officer in the Chinese Maritime Customs in 1939:
However, the funeral report spells the name of the attenders 'Preobranjensky', with the first 'n' ommitted in the senders of the tribute. I think the CMC list establishes that the form without the 'n' is correct.
