What year was the current breakwater built at the eastern entrance to Aberdeen Harbour? And was there one in place before this one? Thanks

Hi Les,

No sign of it in 1952:

But at least half of it is in place by 1979:

Can anyone narrow it down further?

Hi there,

Found this link on the web.  Uncertain about its credibility but it reads the Southern breakwater started construction back in 1967 and completed in 1968.   The western breakwater started in 1962 and was completed in 1965.

Maybe the PRO would have something.......

That's one of the years I've got the Hong Kong Annual Report for, and on page 182 it says:

The two breakwaters constructed in the southern entrance to Aberdeen Channel to form a typhoon shelter, were completed.

Thank you for the reply. It was very good of you and it helped me recify the issue.
