Nothing very exciting to see, but interesting because it's the first we've seen on the Western side of the island. I wonder if the Japanese built more tunnels where they had experienced the worst fighting, or whether there are more on the western side of the island that just haven't been seen yet.

I remembered this from over 10 years ago. I didn't know what it was then, but remember a tunnel cut straight back into the hill. I didn't go in, but I didn't see any turnings or branches from the entrance, so I think it was one of the simple hiding-place tunnels.

When I went back to look for it again recently, I see it has been blocked up.

It's along a pretty path. If you walk up from Pokfield Road bus terminus towards Pinewood Battery, the path eventually turns into a paved road. On one of the bends this path leads off to the right, signposted to a 'planting site'. At one point you'll walk up a couple of steps, and see the path makes a sharp right turn a little way ahead. The tunnel is just past the steps, on your left side.

No better coordinates, unfortunately, but the path is a clear one, shown slightly to the left of the marker on the Thunderforest map: https://gwulo.com/node/2898?a=1#16/22.2789/114.1343/Map_by_Thunderfores…

If you walk south along that path, then hopefully the directions given above will make it clear where to look:

From memory the tunnel was clearly visible from the path, and quite close to it, so no need to head off into the undergrowth.

Has anyone entered into this tunnel recently? After looking into the recent-ish photos, I can see that the tunnel starts out with a wide chamber, and then leads into a much more smaller tunnel. Looking more deeply, it seems that it bends to the left at the end?

If anyone knows or has been in this tunnel, please respond
