BAAG

Eugene Mak was born in Hongkong on 20 September 1920, and educated at Wah Yan College.  Before the war he worked as Clerk of Works and Overseer at Sang Lee Builders, a Government contractor.  During hostilities, he was a Sergeant in the Field Ambulance at the Military Hospital.   He was released from Argyle Street Prisoner of War camp on the 15 September 1942, and then took a position as typist and clerk under the Japanese at their POW Headquarters, where he worked with, amongst others, Tse Dickuan.  Before Tse escaped to Free China with the valuable list of POWs imprisoned in Hongkong, he  arranged for Eugene Mak and Miss Ho Chun Yue  to provide constant and up-to-date information to the BAAG about the POWs through contact with Major Cooper at Waichow.

Tse Dickuan: "Miss Ho Chun Yue was arrested on Jan 18th 1945 and no news has since been received of her.  Her sister, Miss Ho Bik Wan  took up the work and managed with
Mr Mak to maintain communications".
